Pumps for Liquids
2011 Edition - Pumps for Liquids - available now for purchase and download
The annual report provides a five-year forecast for 63 countries, which is updated each year. There are a number of market segmentations relevant to forecasting the pumps for liquids industry. One segmentation identifies engineered, standard and special purpose pumps. Another identifies the market by product type, such as centrifugal , reciprocating or rotary. Yet another identifies the market by pump application, such as water or wastewater treatment. We show the pump market in each of these ways, but the common denominator is the market by end use industry.
Engineered, Standard, Special Purpose Pumps
Given the market by end use industry, we can identify the market for, say, engineered pumps because we know, from studying major projects, that these pump types are concentrated in the oil and gas and power generation industries. The same reasoning applies to special purpose and standard pumps.
Pump Types
We provide forecasts for centrifugal, reciprocating, and rotary pumps, together with some further sub-division by each of these product types. Although we would like to provide more product detail in the forecasts, this is not supported by available data. The reason for this is that a number of different product types can be used to meet pump demand, and the choice can be dictated by custom in particular countries, rather than by technical merit. A way round this is to provide forecasts by pump application.
Pump Applications
We provide more insight into market demand for different pump types by forecasting requirements by pump application. For example, we can forecast the requirement for dewatering pumps from our analysis of demand by end use industry. Typical pump types used to meet the demand for dewatering pumps are end suction or submersible pumps. We do not have enough information to say which pump type will meet the demand for dewatering pumps across all our 63 countries, but the provision of forecast demand for dewatering pumps is step forward.
End Use Industries
The three types of market segmentation mentioned above are highly relevant to marketing pumps. We have to provide a detailed historical and forecast sub-division of demand by end use industry in order to derive these results. The chosen sub-division identifies pump-intensive industries.
