Links with government and research organisations originate from a 70 sector input-output model of the UK economy, which was developed for the UK Department of Industry in the 1970s to assist the UK government’s industrial strategy. Further work, concentrating on industrial model building, was carried out for the OECD, the European Commission and a number of UK government departments, including the development of a model of the UK economy to assess subsistence prospects following a nuclear attack.
